My America, a new documentary by a Brisbane filmmaker is challenging the Whitehouse to hear the opinions and problems of ordinary people from around the world. The film, explores America’s global role in the 21st century and our own individual responsibilities to make our world a better and safer place.
33-year-old Peter Hegedus has produced and directed several award-winning documentary films, including one short-listed for an Academy Award, but My America has been his most ambitious project to date. The election of Barack Obama in November 2008 inspired him to take action which saw Peter embarked on an ambitious journey around the world and across America. “I’d grown up enough to recognise one man couldn’t deliver this single-handedly and that ‘change ‘was something we’d all have to contribute to.”
