AWARD WINNING FILMMAKER RESPONDS TO OBAMA

Move over Michael Moore, an Aussie is taking documentary filmmaking to ambitious new heights with his latest work, My America.

The film, due for cinema release next year, has seen Brisbane based filmmaker, Peter Hegedus, travel the globe with the hope of rediscovering the meaning of America in the world today, and it’s a journey he hopes will take him all the way to the Whitehouse!

BRISBANE FILMMAKER CHALLENGES WHITEHOUSE FOR MEETING

My America, a new documentary by a Brisbane filmmaker is challenging the Whitehouse to hear the opinions and problems of ordinary people from around the world. The film, explores America’s global role in the 21st century and our own individual responsibilities to make our world a better and safer place. 

33-year-old Peter Hegedus has produced and directed several award-winning documentary films, including one short-listed for an Academy Award, but My America has been his most ambitious project to date. The election of Barack Obama in November 2008 inspired him to take action which saw Peter embarked on an ambitious journey around the world and across America. “I’d grown up enough to recognise one man couldn’t deliver this single-handedly and that ‘change ‘was something we’d all have to contribute to.”
